Team

Colony is led by a team of seasoned landscaping professionals. Each member of our supervisory staff has over 10 years of experience in the field. Many have also received certification in construction and irrigation through the California Landscape Contractors Association's Certified Landscape Technician Program.

Ed Ott - President

Ed began his career as a teenager working for his father's company, Leo Ott Landscape, Inc. He eventually became vice president of that company, then branched out on his own and founded Colony in January of 1990. He holds a Bachelor of Science in horticulture from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. Ed grew up in Mountain View and Los Altos and attended St. Francis High School. Today, he and wife Michelle have one boy and two girls, as well as multiple pets. Outside of work, he's involved in weekly pick-up soccer games and coaching wrestling, as well as watching his daughter's theatre performances, his son's baseball and his youngest daughter in multiple sports.

Simon Parrott - Construction Division Manager

Simon joined Colony in 1998. He grew up in England and moved to the Bay Area in 1995, having graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Landscape Project Management from Merrist Wood Horticultural College, Surrey. Simon is very active in the California Landscape Contractors Association, serving as Chapter President in 2003. He was awarded certification as a Certified Landscape Technician in 1997. Simon lives in San Mateo with his wife Victoria, a landscape architect, and two children. Outside of work he can be found on his mountain bike on the Peninsula trails.

Kevin Moore - Maintenance Division Manager

Kevin joined Colony in 1998, having worked professionally in landscape maintenance since 1993. He is a native of Mountain View and a graduate of Mountain View High School. When not working, Kevin's favorite pastime is spending time with his wife Lydia and their four children (three girls, one boy).

Adam Bishop - Construction Project Manager

Adam joined Colony in late 2008 after three years with another landscaping company. He is a graduate of the University of Southern California and attended high school at Junipero Serra. A Bay Area native, Adam grew up in San Carlos and currently lives there with his wife Sarah and their English bulldog, Hurley. Outside of work he enjoys music and concerts, barbecuing and hotrods/customs/muscle cars and trucks.

Michelle Norton - Office Manager

Michelle joined Colony in July 2006, having worked in accounting since 1978 and specifically in construction accounting since 1998. A native of Richmond, California, Michelle moved to San Jose at age sixteen. She was in the first graduating class of Independence High School and went on from there to Mission College in Santa Clara. Michelle and her high school sweetheart raised four children, and recently celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary. After hours, she enjoys traveling, days at the beach, and camping and boating with family and friends.
